Skate! Skate! Skate!

The students had so much fun today at the arena.

We are studying Data Management and Probability and having fun asking fellow students questions and talking about 'maybe', 'certainly', and 'impossible'. 

We are working on our Menu Posters, printing the title and organizing each meal.

Good evening!

In Math, we continued to study Data Management. The students had each other sign their names in a chart - names less than 5 letters, 5 letters, names more than 5 letters. The students really enjoyed this activity. 

In Language Arts, we are working on our speeches. This is proving to be a challenge. The speeches have to be 3-5 minutes, coherent, sensible, and incorporating the sequence words. Helping students brainstorm the 5 w's of their chosen activity requires questions to help them focus their thinking. 

In our Unit, we continue to plan menus. Again, this is challenging, ensuring each meal has 3 of the food groups as well as drinks. 

We look forward to skating this Friday.

Hi Parents/Guardians:

In Math, we surveyed classmates in regards to either red, green, or blue and charting these choices. 

Today, our students started organizing their four meals they need to plan before starting the posters. They are to plan a breakfast, lunch, dinner, and then either another breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They are to incorporate 3-4 of the food groups into each meal. This will make the students think deeper than just organizing food into groups. Planning meals takes time, can be fun, and very creative. Please, print out pictures from Google, flyers, or to colour. The ones I have seen today are awesome, colourful, and full of variety. Thank you.

Greetings!

Well, we are back into routine with assembly, morning message, poem, calendar wall template and read quietly for 10-15 minutes.

Today, we started our Data Management week, blindly taking one of 10 black or white cubes out of a bag and recording this on a graph. The students enjoyed this activity.

Later, we talked about our speeches, deciding what we can comfortably talk about for 3-5 minutes. The topics sound fun. We did mind maps to record the 5 w's, and key words relating to the topic. This is a challenge since the students will then have to write their stories and then memorize them.

We also discussed menu ideas, sharing menu plans for pancakes, pasta, tacos, and grilled cheese sandwich meals, the food groups represented at each meal. We need to do this before the students start planning their four meals to understand how to choose, and that they should have 4 of the 5 groups represented.
