It's Friday!

We did our usual Calendar wall. For Math, we played around the world using questions such as 5+ 6 = ? and ? + 9 = 11  It was very interesting.

Homework is algebra. Some students are struggling which is fine. If need be, do the subtraction if it helps. Also, I told them do the ones they can without thinking then the harder ones. At least they see something getting done.

We spent time thinking of favourite sports, and who to share this with in a letter.

Later, we shared our poems, reading, singing, and doing actions.

Still later, we spent time doing Cosmic Yoga. This is a favourite activity.

Spelling for the week

Today, we used a tape measure marked at one meter to decide if various pieces of furniture in the room were shorter or longer than one meter.

In Unit, we started to create a picture of a chameleon hidden in stripes. We cut out the creature. This will be a work in progress.

Games Club Day!

We started our Term 3 Games Club. There were about 30 students enjoying various games together. Lots of fun and a break from the norm. This will carry through to the end of May. 

Today, we finished non-standard measuring using paper clips, connector cubes, and base ten cubes. Tomorrow we will decide if items in the class are longer than a meter or shorter. 

We also finished our Kandinsky Circle Art pictures.

Today started normal then proceeded to get more spectacular every period. 

We did our Calendar Wall template and our Math non-standard measure using base ten cubes, paper clips, and connecting cubes.

After this, we sat through a wonderfully well-presented fire safety question and answer session that Miss Cranfield booked in for us. Ask your child about 3 minutes and FAST. 

Then the students had Gym. After lunch, we had a delightful IB assembly learning about commitment. Again, Miss Cranfield had a house team game organized which was fun and loud. Finally, we watched the grade 8's in groups of 3 and 4 dance to music they chose. It was fun. 

An unusual day but a fun day.

Celebrate Art

Thank you, parents, for helping your child research artists from your heritage. It was fun to see the different forms of art used to express life and imagination. 

Today, we used base ten cubes, paper clips and connecting cubes to measure assorted objects in the room. This was run and many of the students worked in partners. 

We are learning letter format and how to write a proper letter. Today we brainstormed why Mr. Playford should let recess be longer.
